Best Time to Post on Instagram by Day of the Week (Including B2B)

Posting when it suits you? You're missing your audience. Here's how to read your own Insights, day by day.

You're posting at the wrong time, and deep down you already know it

Most SMB owners post when they get a spare moment. After a meeting, just before closing time, or Sunday evening when you finally get around to your content. Completely understandable. But Instagram doesn't reward what's convenient for you. It rewards what your followers are actually doing. And your followers are running on a very different schedule than you think. There is no single universal best time. What does exist: patterns by day of the week that you can read yourself through Instagram Insights. Below we walk through each day, with specific attention to B2B businesses, which run on a completely different rhythm than B2C.

Monday: don't skip this one

Plenty of businesses start their content week on Tuesday or Wednesday because Monday 'feels too hectic.' Here's the irony: people scroll a lot on Monday morning. They're catching up, scanning their feed, checking what they missed over the weekend. For B2B, Monday morning between 8:00 and 10:00 is a serious window. Your audience is primed for the week ahead, receptive to inspiration and practical solutions. Post something that connects to their working week, a tip, a behind-the-scenes moment, a question, and you catch that attention at exactly the right moment.

Tuesday and Wednesday: the peak of the week

If you're going to pick one day to publish your strongest content, make it Tuesday or Wednesday. Platform data from Meta consistently points to Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons as the periods with the highest organic engagement. For B2B, Wednesday between 10:00 and 12:00 tends to work especially well. The work week has momentum, people are taking a brief break from their screens and scrolling in between. For B2C, think a restaurant or a lifestyle brand, Tuesday evening between 19:00 and 21:00 is a strong spot. People are planning their week and are receptive to 'what are we doing this weekend?' content.

Thursday and Friday: engagement dips, but intent goes up

Thursday is solid without being spectacular. Use it for content that can breathe a little, a carousel, a short video, something people will save for later. Saved posts are gold for your algorithm, even when the like count is lower. Friday is tricky. Especially for B2B: your audience is mentally clocking out. B2C does better on Friday afternoon, people are slipping into weekend mode and looking for inspiration. If you're posting on Friday for a B2B audience, do it early. Before 11:00. After lunch, you've lost the room.

Weekend: only if your audience is actually there

Saturday and Sunday are lost time on Instagram for most B2B businesses. Unless you have a product or service where business owners think about their company specifically on weekends, in which case Saturday morning can surprise you. For B2C, Saturday between 11:00 and 13:00 is one of the strongest windows of the entire week. People are free, scrolling without pressure, and more likely to save something or pass it on. Sunday works less well unless you're posting content that inspires. Think lifestyle, travel, food. Content that fits the slower pace of a Sunday morning scroll.

What SMB owners recognize when they're honest with themselves

Many owners recognize this pattern immediately: they post the moment the content is finally ready. Imagine making one habit shift, not because a blog told you to, but because you actually went back into your own Insights. Which posts got the highest engagement? Which day, which time? That answer differs by industry, by city, by the type of follower you have. A construction company has a completely different audience than a creative agency or a retailer in a busy city center. The first step isn't to copy an ideal schedule. The first step is to look at what your own data is already telling you.

The pitfall: picking one time slot and never revisiting it

The biggest misconception about Instagram timing is that it's a one-time setting. It isn't. Your audience shifts as you grow. Your content mix changes. Seasons play a role. The mistake we regularly see with businesses: they read one article about 'best times,' set their scheduler, and never look at their Insights again. Check at least once a month which posts performed best on reach and on saves and shares. Those are your two most useful signals. Likes are nice. Saves and shares tell you what your audience actually values.
